This blog is my practice of disciplining myself to write
My name is Halina. I'm in my early 40s. I live on a Tropical Island with my Main Squeeze. I use capital letters to indicate that I am not going to give any more specific information than that.
This blog is not anonymous. I told you my name, after all. But I want to leave some space for me to be able to write as authentically as possible to an unknown audience, because that feels scary.
It's an interesting balance, trying to share an authentic self while still trying to maintain a sense of privacy. I'm hoping that my friends who read this will recognize me and learn some new things about me at the same time. But if you don't know me, how do I simultneously let myself be known and yet not too known?
That's the paradox: In order to feel free enough to share myself, which will help you know me, I need to make sure you don't know me too much. At least at first.
I invite you to join me as I ramble on about things that are on my mind.
A friend took this picture
while our group was on
the hike and his wife emailed it to me. It was such a delight because I rarely get these kinds of candid shots of myself.
Thank you, Charley. I miss you.
Note about the photographs:
Most of the photographs in my blog are mine, meaning I took them. I may occasionally use photos that someone else took, but gave me to use as I see fit, such as the photo of me on the right.
All of my photographs are in the gallery, with a short blurb.
